Is there lots of public transportation around the los angeles area?

Frank Gazaway: Seeing as Cali is one of the top most visited states in the country I would say there will be plenty of public transportation. I have never been there tho so I could be wrong.

Blythe Noreiga: First off, we don't call it "Cali". Use that term here, and you might as well tattoo "TOURIST" on your forehead."Not big on transportation" is inaccurate. It's an enormously huge metro area, and there is considerable but coverage, but it's slow and inefficient compared to train systems they have in NY and San Francisco. To get from Anaheim to HB, you'll want to got to octa.net, not the link that DR (aka MisInformation) gave you. She lives in Oklahoma, I actually live in OC. Anyways, it will probably take at least 2 hours to get from Anaheim to HB, depending on the location within each city. Check out the sytem map at octa.net, or use the public transit feature of maps.google.com. You can enter a starting and ending address, and it will tell you approximately how ! long it will take to get there. It's a good 20 miles from Anaheim to HB....Show more

Emerita Sciandra: You can your mom are both wrong, in different ways.California does have lots of public transportation, but most of it is in the San Francisco area. Thre is very little in the Los Angeles area.

Idell Syed: Anaheim is about 30 minutes from HB, but that is by car. Both Anaheim and Huntington Beach cover a fairly wide area. So depending on where you are starting from and going to, it may take 2-3 transfers and some walking. So the 2 hour estimate is probably on the lower side and you may want to plan for somewhere between 2 and 3 hours. The good news is that since you will probably be on local routes, it won't get pricey as you can get a day pass for $4.I would suggest for simplicity that perhaps you get your friends to pick you up(and you chip in for gas), or if possible you stay closer to your friends in HB....Show more

Joey Mekeel: The high pace rail to! Las vegas is only a dream despite the fact that i thank there! might something from victotviille to las vegas now one the quandary with la, is giant so it take a very long time to get from point a to factor b on transit, transit is bettering the sunshine rail does aid but even that takes a few hour from downtown to long beach, fast bus do sometime scale down the time it takes but even they get bogged down in LA site visitors

Elvin Mannheimer: Public transportation in L.A. is the bus and subway system and taxis. The taxi fares are exorbitant. The buses tend to run slow and erratic, the subway system doesn't cover the entire city like the subway system in NYC. You may have to rent a car in order to get around the city. You will have problems without a car. Here's the website for the city bus/subway system with schedules and routes.www.mta.net...Show more

Carter Edstrom: Google has a public transit function in their maps section and I used that to see how long it would take to ride a bus from my office in northwest Huntingt! on Beach to Disneyland in Anaheim. I'm surprised that it's less than 2 hours, 1 hour 34 minutes to be specific with 60(!!!) stops. That's to travel 14 miles. Look at the Orange County transit website that Obviousman gave you for hours that the buses run....Show more
