Ty Kirton: Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â" four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. If the digital camcorder's included:* rechargeable battery does not provide long enough record time, then another rechargeable battery from the manufacturer will need to be purchased;* lens does not allow enough zoom for your needs, an additional lens is needed;* lens does not allow wide enough field of view, a wide angle lens might be needed;* lens and imaging chip are small, then low light video quality will be poor and a video light may be needed;* stability control is not enough, then a stabilizer - tripod, SteadyCam, camera crane, dolly, chair, rock - needs to be used;* built-in mics are not adequate for your needs, then an external mic or audio field recorder may be needed - with the external mics, this assumes the digital camcorder has an audio input jack (and hopefully manual audio control).There's more - but these are the basics......Show more
