Joaquin Dronko: What do you do for a living? In real life that is :) And how old are you?
Brian Freedland: The puppy has already had 8 weeks of development.8 weeks of nutrition (good, bad or indifferent), socializing (or lack thereof), medical care (or not) etc.Not to mention the generations of ancestors behind him.The selection of parents, the care his mother recieves, the care the puppy recieves, all go into determining whether you're going to get a healthy, well-adjusted puppy or not. Those first 8 weeks can be critical. So no, the puppy is not a "clean slate"....Show more
Alecia Kaehler: not necessarilyIf you have no clue as to how to properly socialize or train a puppy.. you could easily end up with a neurotic, misbehaved mess. There's not really any way to know what kind of temperment or personality a pupp! y will develop as an adult either... expecially when you choose a very young puppy. There are many wonderful adults that are already well-socialized and trained. Several years ago I had adopted a husky mix who was great with children, cats and most other dogs. She was housebroken, walked good on a leash, and knew a few commands. Her fault was that she was very husky-like and was not trustworthy offleash... she was an escape artist, and would find a way to get out the door any chance she could get.. we figured she had escaped one too many times and her previous owners just didnt want to pay to get her out of the pound....Show more
Betsey Copp: Nah,its normal just buy her a raw hide bone she is just teething right now shes only a puppy lol........my puppy did the same thing and she is 6 months old now and still Kinda nibbles on my toes lol.....i let her bite on my hand because i think that it will help some with the teething .....welp hope i helped!
Chris Rosenk! ranz: I am a Librarian for a public library system. I also wo! rk/volunteer at my local animal shelter, but that does not really contribute to my wages, just my honor.I am 5 years less than thirty.
Felipa Nosis: Well the obvious issue is the mother dying. The pups learn from the nest, with mother and other pups, about biting. When pups are taken from their mother too early this happens. I would suggest lots of bones and a kennel for when she bites. Hopefully she will grow out of it, but if she is hurting her own father, it isn't good.
Mayola Sylva: I do not consider and age dog as a clean slate, you have genetics and already formed habits when you get any dog from 6 week to a geriatric dog. People thinking that any dog will be easy are going to be sadly mistaken. An adult dog you have to mold to fit your family and a with a puppy you have to do the same.
Jesse Pirieda: No, you get out of your puppies/dogs what you put into them. If you put the hard work in you get the dog/puppy you want. NO RESPONSIBLE BREEDER/POUND/! SHELTER WILL GIVE YOU A PUPPY WITH SMALL CHILDREN.
Carter Dewater: It's simple. My dog was a biter when she was a puppy too.Go to the store and buy some rawhide chews and when she starts chewing on you just give her the rawhide bone. She will stop chewing on you because the rawhide bones taste a lot better than you. This really works.
Jackelyn Archut: She could still have fleas. Flea shampoos and dawn dish soap don't get all of the flea eggs so within a week of the eggs being layed they will hatch. Try frontline or go to the vet and get a flea pill.
Alberto Kozub: she is a Maltese tea cup and weigh 3 lbs, she had fleas when I got her. Bathed her and didn't see anymore. 3 days later i seen a few more on her cause she will start biting or scratching. Bathed her again with dawn and didn,t see any fleas so i'm thinking it's just dry skin.
Nannie Kasee: I totally disagree. I think puppies are great but they are SO much work. You need to devote almost a! ll your time into a puppy and if you have that time, awesome but if you! don't then they aren't going to be able to handle it. This is why I always recommend shelters to people because they can get any age dogs there
Joey Mekeel: shes still teething! but if you want to stop it you can get this spray that they sell at most pet stores and you spray it on everything you don't want the dog to chew and when they go to chew it, they don't like the taste. i use this it works good. and you can also just buy her more chew toys.
Hope Lundmark: im 25 and a student at college and unemployed.
Vince Delarge: I'm a 19 year old college student. I'm unemployed at the moment but I worked at a doggy daycare over the summer and I'm very tempted to go back this summer. The management was terrible, but the job was great!
Alonso Crehan: I'm surprised the father tolerates this. When the puppy bites you, yelp like a puppy and ignore her for awhile. Rawhide is not a real good idea for a small puppy unless you are there to supervise. Puppies wil! l chew it until it is really soft and then try to swallow it. They could choke on it.I have an 8 week old Husky pup. She loves chewing on beef rib bones and a stuffed husky puppy toy....Show more
Lu Tiner: Not really. If you were to observe a litter of puppies over the course of several weeks you will see some things. You will see puppies that are stand offish, some that are timid, some that are dominant, and some that are submissive. These traits are ingrained into them from birth.
Marcelina Schossow: Not a clean slate you get all the generations of genetics including temperament that is behind the dog

Warren Kotter: Calm down! Shes just teething! Her teeth are growing in and her gums hurt. It helps sooth her gums to bite. Teach her to chew her toys an! d not humans. When she bites say in a stern voice "Ouch, NO BITE".
Catheryn Barringer: First, detect the filthy slate in question! this could properly be a precedence! obtain an remarkable eraser. practice your self for distinctive elbow grease! some slates have many compounds embedded interior of them and could have the will of a cleansing solvent! Marya Fehn: OK so I have two dogs, one is male one is female. They had 3 puppies, two of them we gave away, one is we kept from ourselves. However, 4 days after their birth, the mother died. The only puppy left, a girl, is left with her father. For the first two weeks, the puupy seemed playful, biting her father and trying to wrestle him, and at first, the father tolerates it. But now, for the past weeks, the puppy semed to bite anything she sees. She bites her father and her father wails. She bites even our hands, which hurts a lot! Jonathon Labonne: My cousin had this problem...As it gets! older, it's biting will start to hurt more, so you have to deal with this now.You just have to shout at it each time it does it - Say ChuChi NO very loudly. If it gets really bad, you may have to hit it (but I don't recommend it - it's really mean).Hope this helped x...Show more
Lorine Helwick: One of the many problems irresponsible pet owners/backyard breeders bring upon themselves. I take it the mother dog didn't see a vet quickly after whelping. In addition to bottle-feeding the pups, it became your responsibility to take over the other duties of the mother. The sire doesn't have the instincts to teach appropriate social behavior to his pups. He doesn't even know it is his offspring. Her mother wouldn't have directly disciplined her pups for biting her.Teach your dog bite inhibition. And get your dogs spayed/neutered.http://www.canismajor.com/dog/bite2.html...Sh! ow more
Mitchel Demry: You don't. Ignorance and lies from people ! who know nothing about dogs.
Dorris Homola: No, I absolutely don't think you get a "clean slate" with a puppy. In the case of somebody who needs the puppy for a certain purpose, one could argue that no previous handler has used methods you would rather the puppy not be exposed to, but that is only really that specific case and it doesn't apply to most people.I ALWAYS recommend adult dogs currently living in foster for families or people with a certain set of requirements (ie the need for the dog to get along with cats, etc) who don't need anything more than a companion. When you rescue an adult (especially one living in foster) you have an extremely good idea of what you're getting. Usually better than any other option. Obviously, not every method goes with every situation, which is exactly why researching and knowing what your doing is the first step to looking for a new dog....Show more

Corrinne Ruozzo: Thanks for letting us know. What's your question? I don't see one.
Collin Pelfrey: While I prefer to get a puppy because I want to be in charge of what it is exposed to etc. I agree that with a puppy you don't get a clean slate - you do however get to help decide how the picture will be painted. I also work with a breeder that I know and that understands what I am looking for in a puppy - and has the experience to assure that the puppy that is placed with me is the best placement out of that litter for my interests. One of the top canine behaviorist in the country - encourages people to either get a puppy before it is age 6 months so that you have a say as to who it will become or get a dog that is over 18 months so that you will know who you are inviting into your home. Adolescent dogs have had certain experiences that you can never over come - but you may not see th! e impacts on who they will be until they are fully adults....Show more
Caryl Mclaen: When he bites you can put your thumb in his mouth and hold it on the roof of his mouth with the rest of your hand lightly pressing down on the top of his nose. They can't bite that way and they really don't like that being done. You can also take his "lips" and curve them down under his teeth. He will learn that it hurts and it is bad. Also, always make sure to say NO firmly when you do anything to deter. You can always use the pennies in a soda can. Supposedly, they really hate the sound and it deters behaviors....Show more
Rashad Marecki: Suggesting people steal an animal. Regardless of the circumstances, they are suggesting something against the law. Never a good idea. I would never suggest that someone break the law. Also right up there is people suggesting hitting a dog to punish it ("oh just a smack on the nose"). Of course people post outrageous stuff all the time, so I am assuming you mean serious answers.
Shawnna Kusky: When she! bites you or her father, say "NO!" and push her off. She may be trying to exert dominance. On the other hand, she may be just teething. Whichever way, you must show her that you are the pack leader and that don't appreciate her biting you.
