In addition to bottle-feeding the pups, it became your responsibility to take over the other duties of the mother. Dorris Homola: No, I absolutely don't think you get a "clean slate" with a puppy.In the case of somebody who needs the puppy for a certain purpose, one could argue that no previous handler has used methods you would rather the puppy not be exposed to, but that is only really that specific case and it doesn't apply to most people.I ALWAYS recommend adult dogs currently living in foster for families or people with a certain set of requirements (ie the need for the dog to get along with cats, etc) who don't need anything more than a companion. When you rescue an adult (especially one living in foster) you have an extremely good idea of what you're getting. Usually better than any other option.
